Safety Instructions

Always follow proper safety procedures when using the PHED Mobility Rideabout to avoid injury and accidents.

1. No one under the age of 18 may operate the Rideabout unless they are a licensed driver and have permission to do so.
2. Traffic laws must be obeyed at all times.
3. Do not use in extreme weather conditions such as excessive rain or snow.
4. Proper maintenance must be always adhered to including:
     - Maintaining proper air pressure in the tires at all times.
     - Regular inspection of tires for tread wear, uneven wear and/or cuts or tears.
     - Replace golf cart shocks and/or rear leaf sprigs if the golf cart is not as stable as it was when delivered. Shocks and/or rear leaf springs would be changed every three to four years or as needed.
5. When driving, extra care should be taken when cornering and braking, especially in adverse weather conditions. Cornering at high speeds could cause the golf cart to roll over causing injury or death. Always drive over uneven or rough terrain at slow speeds.
6. It is highly recommended that headlights be always used even in clear weather to allow for maximum visibility for other drivers and pedestrians in the same manner that vehicles use daytime running lights.
7. Do NOT overload the cart and exceed weight limits. Exceeding weight limits can cause the golf cart to become unstable during cornering and braking while causing excessive wear and tear and a shortened service life.

Loading a wheelchair passenger:

1. Park the golf cart on level ground, turn the ignition off and switch the reverse/forward switch to neutral.
2. Push the brake forward to lock into parking brake position.
3. Pull latch on the driver's seat and move the hinged seat outward until it is lying flat on its side.
4. Remobe the latch from the ramp and place the ramp gently onto the ground.
5. Push the wheelchair passenger onto the deck of the golf cart and position him/her facing forward or sideways behind the driver.
6. Press button on each floor mounted wheelchair restraints to release strap and place hook securely on each side of the wheelchair so that all four sides of the wheelchair are secured in place.
7. Release button on wheelchair restraints after placing hook onto the wheelchair allowing any excess in the strap to retract.
8. Check the wheelchair to ensure all four sides are securely locked in place.
9. Place wheelchair brake into the locked position.
10. Raise ramp and attach latch in place.
11. Place the driver's chair back into the proper upright position.

Unloading a wheelchair passenger:

1. Park golf cart on level ground, turn the ignition off and switch the drive control to neutral.
2. Push brake forward to lock into parking brake position.
3. Pull latch on the driver's seat and move the hinged seat outward until it is lying flat on its side.
4. Remove the latch from the ramp and place the ramp gently onto the ground.
5. Press the button on the AMF Bruns floor restraint, pulling the strap forward and removing the hook from the wheelchair and allowing the strap to retract back to the starting position. Do this for all four AMF Bruns floor restraints.
6. Release brakes on wheelchair.
7. Turn the wheelchair passenger towards the ramp and gently roll down the ramp. If the wheelchair user is using a power wheelchair, stand to the side of the ramp to help guide the wheelchair user down the ramp.

Always ensure that when unloading a wheelchair passenger, the ground is flat. Never unload a wheelchair passenger on uneven ground or near the downward slope of a hill.

It is highly recommended that everyone operating the PHED Mobility Rideabout read these instructions and undergo training prior to transporting any wheelchair passengers.

DO NOT EXCEED 1,100 POUNDS FOR TOTAL WEIGHT INCLUDING THE DRIVER, WHEELCHAIR AND ALL PASSENGERS AND CARGO.

DO NOT LOAD OR UNLOAD ANY PASSENGERS NEAR ANY DECLINES.

SAFETY TIRE CHOCKS MUST BE USED WHEN UNLOADING AND LOADING WHEELCHAIR PASSENGERS.
